It’s just around the corner, Sunday, May 15, 2022, FOHI volunteers will arrive on Hog Island, faces beaming as they head for their rooms and come out a short while later ready to hammer, wash, polish, unpack, saw, repair – get the camp ready for campers. For many, it’s an annual visit, for others, it’s the first time. By the end of the first day, they’ll be a lightening team.
Have you seen our annual newsletter, the Guillemot? Read it now!
Also, we’ve already sent out our annual appeal – we only send one a year – and so far have had a greater response than expected in these uncertain times. Thank you to all who have donated to date, both new and long-time supporters. You help us get things done.
In March, the town of Bremen gave its go-ahead for the raising of the Queen Mary. The joint project funded by FOHI and managed by Audubon will take place in the fall. We’ll keep you posted.
COVID is still with us so this season, once again, the camp will follow all COVID protocols to keep campers, staff, and volunteers safe. So that you know what to expect, check out the protocols: https://hogisland.audubon.org/covid-19guidelines
And lastly, the programs for the camp filled up rapidly but still a few spaces remain so check out the programs at https://hogisland.audubon.org/
All of us, Audubon staff, instructors, and FOHI volunteers are eager to welcome you to the island and make 2022 a fun, memorable experience, full of great food, laughter, learning, and new friends.
See you soon on our favorite island! Let the season roll in.
