From the Lincoln County News: Friends of Hog Island is currently trying to get National Audubon to delay their decision about the future of the island and consider FOHI as an alternative for partnership.
From Juanita Roushdy: I personally still have faith in National Audubon that it will defer it’s decision to transfer ownership to Camp Kieve for at least 2 years. Doing so will give the Friends of Hog Island and the new programming under Project Puffin and Steve Kress time to prove that Hog Island can truly be financially successful.
I just got news that Audubon is about to ditch its historic Hog Island nature camp in Maine, where Roger Tory Peterson used to be a counselor, and where generations of Audubon members have created bonds to nature.
On October 27, Working Waterfront, a publication of Maine’s Island Institute, posted an [intlink id=”3150″ type=”post”]article[/intlink] reporting on discussions about Hog Island ownership. The next day, National Audubon posted an [intlink id=”3157″ type=”post”]response[/intlink] to the article.
